CABANATUAN CITY – While political angle is being pursued, police also eyes love triangle as another angle in the killing of Licab town vice mayor, a ranking police official said on Tuesday.

Senior Supt. Roberto Aliggayu, director of the Nueva Ecija police provincial office (NEPPO), said the investigation being conducted by the Task Force Caraang (TFC) which was created to run after the killers of Licab town Vice Mayor Luisito Caraang is “leaning towards personal grudge as a stronger motive.”

The task force headed by Supt. Manuel Hidalgo, he said, has witnesses on hand but has yet to finish collating testimonies.

The provincial police chief, however, said the investigation is dealing with other motives, including work related and personal.

Caraang was gunned down by two unidentified persons while walking casually after his regular jogging near his residence in barangay San Casimiro, Licab, Nueva Ecija at about 5:10 Saturday.

Hidalgo refused to identify their witnesses as well as the premise of their testimonies.

TF Caraang members that include probers from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT), conducted an ocular inspection at the crime scene, and reenacted how the crime was committed.

“It could even be love quadrangle,” Aliggayu said.

He said they have already identified the brains behind the attack as well as the names of the triggerman and driver of the motorcycle. However, he said they still have to build up an airtight case.

“We have to build up an airtight case against the perpetrators so we are withholding their names for the moment,” he said.

The victim’s wife, Jocelyn, called on authorities for a speedy resolution of the case.
