CABANATUANCITY– Six former military and police officials and an Air Force reservist are in the race for key local government posts in Nueva Ecija.
Records from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed that among those former armed government officials include retired Chief Supt. Ricardo Padilla, ex-Senior Supts.
Virgilio Fabros, Antonio Tanchoco and Tomas Hizon, retired Rear Admiral
Abraham Abesamis, retired police Senior Insp. Rodolfo Rivera and reservist Col.
Reynaldo Garcia.
Running for mayor under the Unang Sigaw Partido ng Pagbabago are Fabros for Guimba, Nueva Ecija; Tanchoco, San Isidro; Garcia; Palayan City; Hizon, Quezon; Padilla, Bongabon; while Agesamis is running under the Liberal Party (LP), Gen. Tinio; and Rivera, Cabanatuan City.

Servando Hizon, is up against the Bagong Lakas ng Nueva Ecija’s Mariano
Criostino Joson, a fomer mayor of Quezon and former vice governor of Nueva
Ecija while Padilla who got the highest rank among fellow former security officials in this election is running against incumbent Bongabon Mayor Amelia Gamilla, one of the most bankable officials of Balane.
Gamilla’s husband also served as mayor of that town for several terms before his death.
In Cabanatuan City, Rivera of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan is virtually unheard of in the five-cornered fight where the front-runners are cousins Jay Vergara (71%), a former three-term mayor, and reelectionist Mayor Alvin Vergara (21%). In Palayan City,
reelectionist Mayor Romeo Capinpin posted a commanding lead of 74-23 in surveys over
Reynaldo Garcia, a reserved Air Force colonel.
In San Leonardo town, retired police chief inspector Ignacio Garcia is lagging behind in the vice mayoral race.
