GAPAN CITY – A 49-year-old man committed suicide by jumping from a 40-feet high bridge along the national highway here Wednesday morning, police reported on Friday.
Supt. Ricardo Villanueva, city police chief, identified the victim as Arturo Adolfo Maribuhoc, married, and a resident of Bagong Sicat, San Vicente this city.
Investigation disclosed that Maribuhoc casually walked from his residence to Dona Josefa Bridge at about 9 a.m.
Witnesses said they never thought the man who was unknown to them would jump off the bridge. “They saw the victim observing the surroundings and when he noticed that no one was around, (he) jumped immediately from the bridge,” Villanueva said.
A follow up investigation, Villanueva said, showed the victim suffered from stroke and had a verbal altercation with unnamed relatives days before the incident.
“They noticed that the victim took it seriously and felt so depressed until he decided to end his life,” police reported.
