BALANGA City: The Bataan Police Provincial Office and the provincial office of the Commission on Elections in coordination with various government agencies held a peace covenant on Wednesday for a clean, honest and peaceful elections on May 12, 2025.

The peace covenant was conducted with the campaign period for local candidates to start on Friday, March 28.

The candidates joined the unity walk and later the signing of the peace covenant at the Cathedral Shrine Parish of Saint Joseph in Balanga City. 

Participating in  the activity were candidates for governor, vice governor, congressmen, Sangguniang Panglalawigan members, mayors, vice mayors and Sangguniang Bayan and Sangguniang Panglungsod members.

Bataan has 11 towns and a city with three congressional districts. 

Bataan police director Col. Palmer Tria assured the candidates that the police will be non-partisan and will work for peaceful national and local elections.

Lawyer Chris Ian Silva, provincial election supervisor, briefed the candidates on the “do’s” and “dont’s” during the campaign period.

“Ang tunay na makabayan ay maka- Diyos din. Asahan ninyo na kami ay magiging katuwang ninyo para sa kabutihan ng bayan.  Ang Diyos ay nakabantay sa atin 24 oras. Patnubayan nawa tayo ng Diyos,” Bishop Rufino Sescon of the Diocese of Balanga said in his message.
