ALIAGA, Nueva Ecija – Everytime the nation commemorates the assassination of former Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr., she also lights up a candle for her son, Rolando Galman.

Saturnina Galman, 81,the mother of the alleged hitman in the killing of the martyred Marcos oppositionist, said she and her family was in Makati two weeks ago to pay final respects to the late President Corazon Aquino because “i love her so much.”

“Mahal na mahal ko si Pangulong Cory,” Galman said saying the late chief executive has been accommodating to her and her lawyer at the height of investigation on the Tarmac killing.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa kanya dahil kahit minsan, hinsi siya naniniwala na anak ko ang pumatay kay Senador Aquino,” said the woman as she opens pages of a book on Ninoy given to her by Mrs. Aquino in one of their meetings.

The family rented a van to attend the funeral.

She insisted her son could not possibly commit the crime he was charged. Galman, who finished only elementary education, was a simple farmer somewhere in Bulacan before the incident happened.

“Napatunayan na ng Agrava board na wala siyang kasalanan, si Pangulong Aquino ay hindi naniniwala na siya ang may kasalanan, kaya ako din ay naniniwala na wala siyang kasalaman,” she said.

Galman was the oldest in siblings of eight.
