PALAYAN CITY – It’s Christmas time for the 1,924 workers of the Nueva Ecija provincial government.
In an effort to help the government workers cope up in the early requirements of the season, Gov. Aurelio Umali ordered the immediate release of their cash gift and 13th month pay, according to Randolph Alingig, provincial budget officer.
Alingig said the perks amounted to over P16,997,971.
He said the lowest-ranked worker received over P6,000 while top officials, excluding Umali, received about P14,000. The figure represented theP2,500 cash gift to all employees and officials and half of their 13th month pay.
“The employees have received last mid-year the first half of both cash gift and 13th month pay. The cash gift is given at uniform amount of P5,000 this year, regardless of ranking or salary grades,” the budget officer said.
Alingig said the cash gift and 13th month pay are usually released within the second week of December.
But lawyer Alejandro Abesamis, provincial administrator, said Umali always take high regard on the welfare of the government workers. “Basta kasi para sa mga empleyado ng kapitolyo, priority lagi ni gov,” Abesamis said.
The capitol workers remain hopeful for another perks – the so-called GMA (Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo) bonus which usually amounts to P5,000 each.
