The long wait is over – Lalamove is finally providing ride-hailing services in the Philippines and is looking to onboard 15,000 drivers during the first half of the year to help commuters ease their transportation woes in the Greater Manila  Area, Pampanga, and Cebu.

Providing an additional stream of income for partner drivers

Having established its name in fulfilling delivery needs, Lalamove is venturing into ride-hailing this time to bring more livelihood opportunities by onboarding at least 15,000 drivers by June with hatchback cars, sedans, and MPVs.

“We are beyond thrilled to announce to the public that Lalamove Ride is finally and officially here. Right now, our goal is to have a large pool of partner drivers to serve more passengers in the Philippines, starting with the Greater Manila Area, Pampanga, and Cebu this February. And to make it more rewarding for partner drivers, we’re starting with a two-percent (2%) commission rate, so they get to take home 98 percent of their earnings on top of Panalomove partner driver benefits,” remarked Djon Nacario, Lalamove Philippines Managing Director.

To sign up, interested applicants will need to provide the following valid documents: Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) or Provisional Authority (PA) issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), professional driver’s license, NBI/barangay/police clearance, passenger accident insurance, and vehicle photos.

Drivers who are the second or third owners of their vehicle will need to provide the Deed of Sale, while drivers who are borrowing the car to be used for ride-hailing purposes have to submit a Letter of Authorization from the vehicle owner.

From helping with delivery needs to addressing transportation challenges

In the past, several users have considered booking Lalamove out of desperation just to get to their destination but did not go through due to app restrictions. Now that Lalamove’s ride-hailing service is here, partner drivers can expect more orders given the strong demand from commuters.

“It’s an exciting time, especially for partner drivers, since we’re anticipating a strong demand. There may be a lot of competition in the ride-hailing scene, but it’s undeniable that many people have been clamoring for Lalamove to expand its services to ride-hailing even before the pandemic given the convenience and affordability we offer,” remarked Nacario.

He explained that onboarded Lalamove Ride partner drivers can take both delivery orders and ride bookings – but not at the same time. “For example, they can maximize their earnings through ride bookings during peak hours, and take delivery orders during non-peak hours. And like with delivery, our partner drivers have the liberty to choose the orders they want, aligned with our goal of democratizing on-demand delivery, and this time, even ride-hailing.,” Nacario added.

To balance the needs of both drivers and passengers, Lalamove offers cheaper ride-hailing fares versus other platforms, aligned with its commitment to providing affordability while adhering to the ride-hailing pricing matrix of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

What’s new for Lalamove Ride

Lalamove’s service expansion also introduces a streamlined experience via the app, with features and perks prioritizing convenience and safety for both drivers and users.

  • Real-time sharing of GPS location to track Lalamove Ride status
  • 24/7 In-app chat function for seamless communication between drivers and passengers
  • Driver and Passenger Accident Insurance provided by Chubb
  • An SOS emergency button connecting passengers to the authorities
  • 20-percent government-mandated discounts, following LTFRB’s memorandum for students, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens
  • Strict partner driver registration process

“Lalamove has always been focused on providing convenience, efficiency, safety, and affordability to Filipino consumers – a standard we set in the Philippines for on-demand delivery services. From handling of parcels and packages, we move to safely transporting passengers. With 15,000 drivers onboarded by June 2025, we will deliver the same for on-demand transportation to allow Lalamove users to get to where they need to faster and with greater ease,” shared Nacario.
