ANGELES CITY – No coasting along, but on the contrary, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. is pushing for more projects for the Angeleños five months into the end of his second – and may as well be end – term as city chief executive, given his running veritably unopposed for Pampanga’s first congressional district in this May’s election.
On Feb. 6, Lazatin led the blessing and inauguration of the newly upgraded Angeles City Emergency Disaster Command Center, fulfilling one of his key promises from his 2022 reelection campaign.
The upgraded command center now features 375 CCTV cameras, significantly increasing coverage from the previous 165 cameras to eliminate blind spots along major roads.
This expansion aims to enhance real-time monitoring, disaster response, and crime prevention efforts in the city.
The project follows the launch of the Angeleño ALERT 24/7 Mobile App – Personal On-Call Guard Interface (POGI) last week and the recent inauguration of 16 state-of-the-art computer laboratories in public schools.
Lazatin credited the success of these initiatives to the city engineer’s office, information and communications technology division, command center, general services office, office of the mayor, and Converge ICT co-founder and CEO Dennis Uy.
“As my term nears its end, I assure you that my dedication to public service will never waver,” Lazatin declared, vowing that more impactful projects will be launched and completed before the end of his term. Angeles CIO
