The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office 3 continues to encourage barangay-based enterprises to register under the Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBE) program and take advantage of its exclusive benefits.
RA No. 10644 otherwise known as the BMBEs Act of 2002 encourages the formation and growth of BMBEs by granting them incentives and benefits. The act also aims to integrate micro enterprises in the informal sector into the mainstream economy. Strengthening BMBEs would mean more jobs and a better quality for Filipinos.
In 2024, a total of 6,805 BMBE registrations were recorded across Central Luzon. Bulacan led with 2,536 registrations, followed by Pampanga with 1,030, Aurora with 845, and Nueva Ecija with 838. Tarlac logged 582 BMBEs while Zambales and Bataan have 545 and 429 respectively.
BMBE registration offers significant advantages, including tax exemptions, minimum wage law exemption, special credit window set up, and training opportunities aimed at fostering growth and sustainability for micro businesses. Any business entity or enterprise engaged in production, processing, or manufacturing of products, including agro-processing, trading and services with total assets of not more than Three Million Pesos (₱ 3M) excluding land may register as BMBE
“We strongly encourage our micro-entrepreneurs to register as BMBEs to unlock valuable benefits such as tax exemptions and access to financial assistance. They are the backbone of our economy and we want to empower them and support their businesses to grow,” said DTI Region 3 Regional Director Edna D. Dizon
To make registration more accessible, the BMBE process is conducted online and is free of charge. DTI also provides support and assistance through its network of Negosyo Centers located in the local government units. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to visit their nearest Negosyo Center for guidance on how to register and maximize the benefits of being a BMBE.
