SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — In an effort to contribute to the security of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ), Redondo Peninsula Energy, Inc. (RP Energy) recently turned-over a security patrol van and other equipment to the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority’s Law Enforcement Department (SBMA-LED).

The donation is part of RP Energy’s ‘Kasangga Mo’ corporate social responsibility initiative that aims to assist in the peace and order situation of surrounding communities including that of the SBFZ.

According to RP Energy project manager Grant Smith, the assistance is meant to shorten the deployment and response time of security personnel and emergency response units.

”We hope that with the new patrol vehicle, emergency and security services will get a boost. We know that the new vehicle will complement the LED’s well-trained personnel,” Grant Smith, project manager of RP Energy said.

RP Energy CSR officer Victor Chan turned over the vehicle and equipment to SBMA-LED Maj. Lourdesito Cebola and Lt. Alejandro Abarro in simple ceremonies. Other equipment such as rain coats, flashlights, and two-way radios were also handed-over to the law enforcement dept.

Considered as one of the major anchors of economic development in Central Luzon, the SBFZ prides itself with well-trained security personnel who are on 24/7 duty, in-charge of the security and safety of freeport residents, business establishments, and tourists.

Smith added that the Subic Freeport is a unique place that blends business and tourism. ”Subic offers tourists a great experience with its dense forest, clean beaches, and theme parks while offering great perks for small and big scale business”.

He recounted that this was why RP Energy wanted to help the law enforcement department perform its mandate of keeping Subic safe for everybody.

The SBMA security force has 18 outposts throughout the 22,000-hectare freeport.
