CABANATUAN CITY – An suspected robber was killed while his cohort was arrested by responding policemen in the posh Lakewood Subdivision in Barangay Sumacab Este here before dawn Sunday.

The fatality was identified as Bryan Paez alias Bukol and arrested was Marjon Tojino, both of Barangay MS Garcia in this city.

Col. Ferdinand Germino, Nueva Ecija police director, said operatives from Cabanatuan City Police Station under Lt. Col. Renato Morales, city police chief, responded to a call from a 57-year-old female resident that a robbery was ongoing in her place.

“CCPS mobile patrollers were dispatched and caught the above-named suspects while in the act of stealing properties inside the said house,” Germino said quoting report from local police.

The suspects, he said, tried to elude arrest by going up to the roof top from the back of the house.

Paez reportedly opened fire using a homemade revolver prompting operatives to fire back.

Tojino also yielded a firearm, police said.

The suspects, including the dead Paez, were charged with robbery and violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition). Contributed photo
