These events aim to promote bamboo’s immense potential as a sustainable resource, contributing both to industrial growth and environmental conservation.

DTI-Zambales and DTI-Pampanga, in collaboration with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), and Jobin SQM Incorporated, organized an educational visit to the Lubao Bamboo Hub & Ecopark in Lubao, Pampanga last September 18, 2024. This initiative highlighted the ecological value of bamboo and its role in strengthening local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The group also embarked on journey to explore the bamboo industry in Bangued City, Province of Abra.

DTI-Tarlac also launched the TarlaKauayan Festival with a bamboo planting activity aimed at establishing a Bamboo Linear Park in Camiling, Tarlac.

In reflecting on the importance of these efforts, DTI Region 3 OIC Regional Director Edna Dizon remarked, “Bamboo represents not just a sustainable material, but a symbol of resilience and growth. Our work in promoting bamboo industries will continue to benefit both the environment and the livelihoods of many communities in Central Luzon.”

This celebration of World Bamboo Month is part of a broader effort to raise awareness about the importance of bamboo as a resource for future generations.
