PORAC, Pampanga — Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil took exception to a media report
that the local government unit maintained an extension office near the raided
Lucky South 99 POGO hub.

Capil said the dilapidated building – actually a residential house – pictured in the
report was not utilized by the Porac LGU because it had long been condemned.

The building which is near the closed POGO site did not have utilities.

Capil admitted that the LGU had planned to establish an extension office in the
eastern part of Porac town so that residents in Barangays Sta. Cruz and Manibaug
will no longer have to go all the way to the Porac Municipal Hall in Barangay
Poblacion.

However, the plan did not materialize as the derelict building inside the Royal
Garden Estate was unusable for the purpose it was intended to serve.

“Nothing is wrong in maintaining an extension office,” said Capil, noting that
other LGUs have such offices to better bring public services to their constituents
that may be living far from the town centers.

Mabalacat City, for one, operates an extension office inside the Clark Freeport
Zone, where illegal POGOs involved in human trafficking, torture, love scam,
crypto scam, and other form of scams, were uncovered in 2023 and during the
Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, a new Porac Municipal Hall is nearing completion in Barangay
Cangatba, to replace the old one in Barangay Poblacion.
