FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga (PIA) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured the consistent support and efforts of his administration for an agile, stronger and more capable Philippine Air Force (PAF).
In his speech during the service branch’s 77th Founding Anniversary held at Basa Air Base, Marcos highlighted that asset acquisition boosts the capability of PAF to protect the nation and people, and to face challenges with advanced speed, precision and force.
“Consistent efforts are being done such as acquiring additional air assets; enhancing cyber warfare communication systems; and pursuing base development programs. We have likewise acquired additional aircraft, as well as advanced radar systems, which have transformed our operational readiness and has enhanced our operational reach,” he said.
The Commander-in-Chief shared PAF’s feats to ensure the security and sovereignty of the country including regular conduct of maritime patrol missions, support to international security operations, and execution of humanitarian and disaster response operations.
Additionally, he mentioned the initiative to participate in global peace and security.
“We have also heightened our international defense and security engagements by sustaining our talks with our foreign military counterparts and participating in multiple bilateral and multilateral military exercises,” he said.
Marcos also recognized the outstanding units and personnel for their exceptional and meritorious service and dedication to the Filipino people and the country.
“As we celebrate another year of service, I extend my sincerest congratulations to this year’s awardees for your outstanding performance. As your Commander-in-Chief, I assure you of this administration’s support in prioritizing your welfare, ensuring that you are well attended to in terms of overall health and wellness so you may perform your duties effectively and safely,” he emphasized.
PAF Commanding General LtGen. Stephen Parreño, on the other hand, cited the milestones for the past 77 years such as an enhanced public value, improved accountability, good governance, and a culture of safety within the organization.
“Much has changed in more than seven decades since the Philippine Air Force was established. Every day we continue to muster strength, boost our capabilities, and consolidate power through modernization efforts and constant training,” he noted.
The official disclosed that PAF formulated a Maintenance Management System Audit Manual as their standard for a robust maintenance system, and guidance for ensuring consistent implementation of effective maintenance practices.
“This will also serve as a basis for recognizing units to exemplify a strong maintenance culture thereby contributing to the sustainment efforts of the Philippine Air Force,” he added.
Meanwhile, Parreño guaranteed the readiness of PAF to answer the call of duty amid the evolving security situation.
“When trespassing aggressors are denying us our right to our own territory, threatening our ships and harming our soldiers, we are ready to respond swiftly with courage and firm results in defense of our sovereignty in honor of our flag,” he pressed.
Among the highlights of the anniversary celebration was the capability demonstration which showcased PAF’s strategic capability and operational excellence through scenario air operation concepts.
This year’s anniversary bears the theme, “Accelerating Above and Beyond: 77 years of Tough Excellence in Protecting the Nation and Securing the Skies” which reflects the enduring commitment of past and present Filipino airmen and airwomen to serve the nation with excellence.
