Thus, Philippine Red Cross CEO former senator Richard Gordon impressed upon some 800 PRC volunteers from Central Luzon and the Cordillera Autonomous Region participating in the earthquake simulation exercise held at the PRC Training Center here on May 31.

PRC volunteers, medical personnel, firefighters, and other emergency personnel spearheaded the event based on a scenario of magnitude 7.0 Earthquake.

The objective of the simulation exercise objective is to enhance the emergency response, capacity, coordination, and resilience of the PRC, its RC 143 volunteers, and chapters in managing mass casualty incidents.

“One way to prepare for a large-scale disaster, specially earthquake, is through mass casualty incidents simulation exercise,” noted Gordon.

Along with Gordon, International Federation of Red Cross president Kate Forbes, IFRC regional director for Asia-Pacific Alexander Matheou, and PRC secretary general Dr. Gwen Pang were also present at the event.
