ANGELES CITY — The Department of Education – City Schools Division of Angeles conducted intensive training on campus journalism for its participants to

the 2024 Central Luzon Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) scheduled in April at the Pampanga High School in the City of San Fernando.

DepEd-AC journalism coordinator Rita Bundalian said this is the time “to boost and augment their knowledge and preparation for their upcoming regional contest.”

“The RSPC campus press conference contest is like a journalism Olympics for learners,” she noted.

Winners in earlier divisional contests are trained in the categories of News Writing, Sports Writing, Feature Writing, Photojournalism, Editorial Writing, Editorial Cartooning, Science Feature Writing, Copyreading, and Headline Writing. There are also those who engaged in group contests that include radio broadcasting, TV broadcasting, online publishing, and collaborative desktop publishing.

Among the discussant-trainers is Central Luzon Media Association-Pampanga Chapter auditor JP Manalang.

A noted book, newspaper, and graphics designer, Manalang is assigned to tackle collaborative desktop publishing and help the student journalists come up with a well-designed newspaper layout for their contest pieces.

“By providing my tips and skills in CDP, giving them another perspective and added knowledge might help them prepare and be ready to face contests on the regional and even national levels,” said Manalang. CLMA-Pampanga/Contributed photos
