ANGELES CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a reinforced concrete slope protection project in Magalang, Pampanga.
It was built along Quitangil Creek in Barangay San Agustin.
DPWH Pampanga 3rd OIC-District Engineer Arnold Ocampo said the 504-meter structure utilized steel sheet piles as a foundation to prevent soil erosion and riverbank scouring.
“It safeguards agricultural lands and nearby poultry operations from flooding, thereby ensuring their continued viability and productivity,” he pressed.
The completion of the project is a significant advancement in enhancing the resilience and safety of the area’s infrastructure network.
“It serves as a defense to protect the dike road from flooding and potential damage, contributing to community resilience,” Ocampo added.
The agency earmarked P48.3 million for the structure under the 2023 national budget. (MJSC/CLJD-PIA 3)
