SANTA RITA, Pampanga – Paleng-QR PH Plus Program rolled out on Sept. 19 here, the eighth municipality in the province to implement the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas initiative towards full digital transactions.
The launch was keynoted by an audio-visual message from BSP governor and Monetary Board chairman Eli Remolona Jr. and a special address from BSP assistant governor Rosabel B. Guerrero highlighting the program’s role in boosting financial inclusion and strengthening local markets.
Former president and sitting Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo also guested in the event, expressing her support and stressing the importance of digital innovation in commerce to empower both vendors and consumers.
Mayor Reynan S. Calo reaffirmed the town’s commitment to the program, aligning it with his administration’s “Bayung Santa Rita” vision of modern governance and better public service.
“The Paleng-QR is just the beginning of our modernization. Watch out for Santa Rita’s new marketplace that we’ve all been dreaming of,” he said.
The ceremony was highlighted by the symbolic scanning of QR codes, marking Santa Rita’s shift toward a faster, more transparent, and more efficient way of doing business.
Paleng-QR PH Plus, a flagship BSP program, promotes digital transactions by enabling QR-based payments in public markets, tricycles, and ambulant vending. With its adoption, Santa Rita strengthens its drive to modernize local trade, broaden economic opportunities, and bring inclusive growth closer to its people.
