LUBAO, Pampanga — Some 2,200 golfers from different parts of the country are entered in the 7th Bong” Pineda Cup as it officially opened on Dec. 14 at the Pradera Verde Golf and Country Club here.
One of the Philippines’ biggest amateur golf events, the week-long tournament will run until Dec. 20.
The opening day featured a ceremonial tee-off led by businessman and philanthropist Rodolfo “Tatay Bong” Pineda with local leaders, sponsors, and guests, including his daughter and former Lubao Mayor Mylyn Cayabyab, LausGroup of Companies president Paul Laus, Sto. Tomas Mayor John Sambo, former Bacolor Mayor Buddy Dungca, and Pradera Verde general manager Mike Singgaran.

Games are played on Pradera Verde’s two championship courses—the Pinatubo and Arayat courses. These 36 holes allow the tournament to smoothly handle the large number of players while giving golfers a challenging and enjoyable experience.
One of the highlights of this year’s Bong Pineda Cup is its large prize pool, estimated at around ₱20 million. Major raffle prizes include a Toyota Land Cruiser, Ford Raptor, Jetour vehicle, and a Ford Territory. There are also special hole-in-one prizes, with cars from CarWorld Inc., KIA Pampanga, and Jetour waiting on selected par-3 holes.

Organizers designed the event as a destination tournament, encouraging golfers to stay for several days and enjoy both the games and the prizes. The event is supported by platinum sponsors such as Newport World Resorts, Mayor Buddy Dungca, DowinnVP Club, Royce Hotel and Casino, Eastwest Golf Network Inc., LausGroup of Companies, and UAAGI. Gold sponsors include Converge ICT Solutions, Rolly Romero, Mikey Arroyo, and BGC. Press release
