FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Palayan City – The Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Division on Tuesday welcomed the passage of the Anti-Terrorism Law as it “will enable security forces” to guard people from “terrorist groups.”

Signed by President Duterte on July 3, the law is being challenged by some groups before the Supreme Court.

“The people can rest assured that soldiers under 7ID will implement the law appropriately, and that the lawabiding citizens have nothing to worry as it is a law that protects them, and gives more legal means among security forces to go after those who sow terror amongst law-abiding and peace-loving people,” said Major Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr., 7ID commander.

The division leadership said the ATL will enable security forces like the members of the Army to better serve and protect the people against terrorist groups.

“The leaders and the troops of 7ID appreciated the strong political will of the President in signing the anti-terrorism measure, despite the opposition of some sectors who feared  that the power of the security sector under the law can be abused to the detriment of the human rights of the people,” reports the Division Public Affairs Office.
