7 nabbed for guns, drugs

CABANATUAN CITY – Seven men were arrested in an anti-drug operation that yielded P182,036 worth of suspected shabu and two handguns in Barangay Rizal, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija at about 5 p.m., Nov. 12.

Col. Ferdinand Germino, Nueva Ecija police director, said some 26.77 grams of shabu were seized during the operation that was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The suspects were identified as Marvin Atendido, 50; Robert Dela Cruz, 49; Jopet Roxas, 29; Ronio Rigat, 40; Dexter Mallari, 43; Angelito Rigat Jr., 45 – all of San Leonardo town; and Ian Mallari, 42, of Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija.

Police said an undercover operative was able to buy a sachet of substance using a pre-marked P1,000 bill from the suspects Atendido, Dela Cruz, and Roxas.

The other suspects, the two Rigats and two Mallaris, were held for alleged possession of suspected shabu, the police reported.

On top of drugs, Atendido and Roxas allegedly yielded a .22 revolver each.

The suspects were charged with violations of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), police added.
