CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA – A total of 676 youth beneficiaries received payouts under the Government Internship Program (GIP) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in collaboration with the provincial government.

Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and DOLE Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio led the distribution of assistance in a ceremony held at the Bren Z Guiao Convention Center on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

The program serves as a training ground for youth to gain experience by contributing to public service in government agencies and offices at both national and local levels. It also provides an avenue for these young interns to bring their energy, idealism, and innovative attitude to government service.

Apart from gaining invaluable government internship experience, the interns received compensation for their dedicated service, particularly contributing to the Preventive Healthcare Program of the provincial government.

Regional Director Panlilio emphasized, “Aside from your experience as government interns, you received a salary, gained significant experience, and contributed to the impactful programs of the provincial government, especially the Preventive Healthcare Program. You assisted those in pain, provided preventive care, and gained valuable work experience while being compensated.”

Each intern worked for a maximum of 22 days, serving as encoders and profilers for Kapampangans who are sick and in need at the barangay level for Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda’s “Alagang Nanay Preventive Healthcare Program.”

Vice Governor Nanay expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are truly grateful for your work. We thank DOLE. You worked hard for us by going to the barangays, attending to the sick, those needing surgery, and the diabetic individuals within your barangay. So, you made a significant impact. Governor Dennis has always planned for these programs to provide you with employment opportunities.”

Beneficiaries received a stipend ranging from P 11,000 to P 12,500, depending on the number of days the interns worked.
