“We must be prepared not only for flooding, but also for other forms of disasters down to the ground level. We must ensure the safety of pupils and other schoolers at all times,” Vice Gov. Dennis Pineda told the school personnel who got certificates to signify their completing their disaster management courses.
“I hope we can start earthquake drills in schools soon,” Pineda added.
Provincial disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) council chair Angie Blanco said those who completed the training included 116 teachers and other personnel from private schools and 551 from public schools all over this province.
“When a disaster strikes during class hours, teachers and DRRM coordinators are duty bound to put students to safety” Blanco said.
Blanco said the partner schools are expected to submit their DRRM plans.
The Pampanga DRRMC was adjudged the second best in the 18th Gawad Kalasag of the National DRRMC.
It has also been inducted to the Regional DRRMC Hall of Fame.
