ANGELES CITY – True to his mission of promoting kids’ welfare, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. led the distribution of Vitamin C supplements to 640 kids, aged 0 to 24 months, today, February 7, 2022 in three barangays here.
Mayor Lazatin visited 140 kids in Barangay Sapalibutad, 250 kids each in Cutud and Pulung Cacutud with staff of the City Nutrition Office headed by Donatila Guanzon and Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles.
“Batid po natin ang pangangailangan ng mga bata, lalo na po ngayong panahon ng pandemya, importanteng mapanatili ang kalusugan nila laban sa virus,” Mayor Lazatin said.
Guanzon also said that all kids aged 0 to 24 months throughout the 33 barangays will receive Vitamin C. The distribution in the remaining barangays with 4,360 beneficiaries will be scheduled.
“Wala pong pinipili ang city na bibigyan. Titiyakin po natin na lahat po ng batang edad 0 to 24 months ay makakatanggap ng Vitamins,” Guanzon furthered.
To recall, amid the pandemic, Mayor Lazatin has allocated P12 million for the procurement of milk that has benefited 50,723 children in the city’s 33 barangays.
Under the Lazatin administration, the city achieved the target number for the “Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio,” a nationwide campaign of the Department of Health for the distribution of the oral anti-polio vaccine.
A total of 43,392 children were given the said vaccine for the first wave, while 47,052 received the same vaccine on the second wave, giving Angeles City the highest recorded number of vaccinations in the whole Region III.
