ANGELES CITY – “Viva Cristo Rey!”
The salutatory cries of rejoicing reverberate anew among the Catholic faithful, even with greater resonance, in the 60th solemn archdiocesan celebration of the Feast of Christ the King on Sunday, November 25, at the Villa del Sol Subdivision in the City of San Fernando.
Theme of this milestone celebration of the Archdiocese of San Fernando is “Cristong Ari, Uliran Ning Pamipatutu King Casalpantayanan” in line with the declaration of Pope Benedict XVI of October 11, 2012-November 24, 2013 as the Year of Faith.
Rev. Msgr. Eugenio S. Mercado, Jr., parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes here and chair of the archdiocesan steering committee for the Diamond Anniversary of Christ the King, said the event “aims to renew and strengthen our faith to the Almighty by practicing what we preach, meaning we should put into practice the things we learn from the words God and not just talk about it.”
“Christ walked his talk. So should we walk our talk too,” Mercado said. “A matter of practicing what we preach, everyday of our lives.”
In his days on earth, Mercado explained, “Christ followed what God had desired by travelling to different places to preach, perform miracles, heal the sick and forgive those who sinned and that is the very essence of the theme for the upcoming event.”
The celebration will start with a motorcade with the Vicariates of the Sacred Heart, Holy Spirit and St. John the Beloved assembling at 12:30 p.m. at the Parish Church of Christ the King in Pulung Cacutud, Angeles City and moving at 1 p.m. through the North Luzon Expressway-Angeles City toll gate and will be exiting at the San Fernando toll gate direct to the Lazatin Flyover where other delegates will be joining for the procession going to Villa Del Sol.
