Mayor Lazatin leads the distribution of ₱1,000 cash aid to 606 registered indigent solo parents today, February 7, 2022. Lazatin is being assisted by Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles, appointed focal person for solo parents’ affairs Rebecca Peñaranda, and City Social Welfare and Development Office staff led by Edna Duaso.
ANGELES CITY – Some 606 registered indigent solo parents each received P1,000 cash assistance today, February 7, 2022 from the city government here via house-to-house, as Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. wants ensure the welfare of the solo parents’ community.
Just for today, Mayor Lazatin led the distribution of the said cash assistance to the 13 barangays with the support of the City Social Welfare and Development Office led by Edna Duaso and Gender and Development Office headed by Mina Cabiles.
To recall, last January 27, Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel discussed the distribution with the appointed focal person for solo parents’ affairs – Rebecca Peñaranda.
According to Peñaranda, the house-to-house distribution is now easier since the database for the solo parents’ community in the city’s 33 barangays has been updated and organized.
All of the 4,000 registered indigent solo parents will be visited to deliver the cash assistance, Peñaranda said.
Peñaranda and Social Welfare Officer II Anne Ley Patio conducted an orientation in the 33 barangays before the activity.
“Sa tulong po ng isinagawa nating pagbisita noon sa 33 barangays sa utos ni Mayor Lazatin, na-identify natin ang mga miyembro ng komunidad para solo parents,” she said.
Aside from this initiative, during the lockdown period, P1,000 cash aid for 5,000 members of the solo parents community were also given, amounting to P5 million.
Last October 2021, P1,000 financial assistance each were also given to registered indigent solo parents.
The CSWDO has also been releasing IDs for the members of the solo parents community to allow them to avail of the benefits they are entitled to, since Mayor Lazatin took office in 2019.
