ANGELES CITY—The city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. rescued six minors, aged 10-17 years old, from a suspected pedophile on two separate operations conducted on Aug. 8 and 9.
The mayor led the rescue of the minors, from 47-year-old Robert Ramirez who was nabbed by the Angeles City Police Office in an entrapment operation later.
Lazatin was with the members of the city social welfare and development office headed by Edna Duaso during the rescue of the minors where he immediately ordered the filing of charges against the alleged sex offender.
“We will not tolerate such wrongdoings in our city,” Lazatin declared. “Kapakanan ng kabataan at kinabukasan ng Siyudad Angeles ang manganganib sa ganitong klaseng krimen.”
A charge of qualified trafficking in violation of RA 10634 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022 has been filed by the city government against Ramirez.
Meanwhile, the rescued minors will remain under the custody of CSWDO at the Home for the Girls for proper processing and rehabilitation according to Duaso.
Duaso also said that she was instructed by Mayor Lazatin to assist and ensure the welfare and safety of all the rescued minors.
