SAN MARCELINO, Zambales — The Ayala Corporation has started construction of a
P6.6-billion solar farm in a 465-hectare site in Barangay Sta. Fe here.
The project owner, Sta Cruz Solar Energy, Inc., has issued noticed to proceed to
Power Construction Corp. of China Ltd. and Power China Philippine Corp. which
were tapped as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractors of
the project.
The solar power plant will have a total capacity of 500 megawatts direct current
and will be constructed in three phases: Phase 1 with 283 MW targeted for
completion in the first half of 2023; Phase 2 with 101 MW and Phase 3 with 116
MW to be completed by 2024.
Mayor Elmer Soria said the project will bring significant value to the local
community with up to 500 direct jobs during the construction period generating
employment to residents of Barangays Aglao, Sta. Fe, and San Rafael and nearby

“When operational, taxes coming from this solar firm will help alleviate the town’s
