CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Philippine National Police chief Gen. Debold Sinas personally led Monday the distribution of 500 Galil Ace 5.56mm basic assault rifles to the Central Luzon police force in Camp Olivas here.
The Israeli-made weapons “would boost and capacitate the firepower of mobile force personnel to assure the safety of the public against criminal elements and terrorist groups,” said Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon in a statement.
It was not mentioned when or from where the rifles were procured and their costs.
In the same event, Sinas inaugurated the newest PRO-3 quarantine facilities.
“We converted container vans for this purpose. This is the immediate response of PRO–3 to the call of the chief PNP to build quarantine and treatment facilities for police personnel with Covid-19. It is an area for isolation, recuperation and rest,” De Leon said.
Each container van is divided into two air-conditioned rooms partitioned according to the standards set by Department of Health with one hospital bed, a table, chair and its own toilet. Free Wi-fi access is also provided.
Forty–four quarantine facilities have been set up inside the PRO 3 headquarters in Camp Olivas.
“I am happy that Gen. De Leon has already complied with these quarantine facilities that would cater to the needs of our uniformed and non-uniformed personnel,” Sinas said.
The official also opened the new PRO-3 public information office. — Carlo Lorenzo J. Datu/PIA–3
