GAPAN CITY — A 47-year-old father was awarded the P30,000 cash prize for being the oldest of over 1,000 boys who underwent circumcision procedure at the Congressman Emeng Pascual Convention Center here on May 30.
The man was reported to have eight children with his first and second partners.
“Congrats po! Nakakatuwa na libong mga Batang Gapan ang nakisali sa ating operation libreng tuli,” said Mayor Joy Pascual.
Pascual said the activity included free movie viewing with snacks such as hotdog, popcorn, ice cream, and “sago’t gulaman” as it lasted for a whole due to the number of those who came for the cut. There was also a photo booth.
The circumcision room was off limits to cameras though.
Pascual, along with her elder brother, 4th District Rep. Emerson Pascual, was elected for a second term last May 12.
City health officer Dr. Vi Pangilinan explained that on top of being a Filipino tradition, circumcision reduces risks of infection among men and sexually-transmitted diseases, especially, to women. Free antibiotics were provided.
