CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Pride in Kapampangan heritage and history kicked off the 10-day celebration of the 453rd Aldo Ning Kapampangan at the Capitol grounds here on Dec. 2.
Reflective of this year’s theme “Kapagmasusian at Kapasalamatan King Pamana at Kasalesayang Pakamalan,” a Thanksgiving Mass concelebrated by San Fernando Archbishop Emeritus Paciano Aniceto, Fr. Manny Sta. Maria, Fr. Noli Fernandez and Fr. Omar Defensor, commenced the celebrations presided by acting Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda.
Joining Pineda were board members Benny Jocson, Fritzie David-Dizon, Atty. Ananias Canlas, Jr., Nelson Calara, Pol Balingit, Cherry Manalo and Atty. Claire Lim; provincial administrator Atty. Charlie Chua, SP secretary Theresa Guevarra, and the department heads.
Also present were mayors Tonton Torres of Guagua, Lina Cabrera of Sasmuan, Madir Alejandrino of Arayat, Bobong Flores of Macabebe, Ruding Gonzales of Mexico, and acting Mayor Ron Dungca of Bacolor.
The Day 1 activities centered on the youth with a seminar on Pampanga’s heritage and history and the distribution of educational assistance to 961 scholars, including Aeta students from Porac and Floridablanca, and recent board exam passers.
Also slated on the first day are the opening of agri business trade fair and the Christmas lighting ceremony at the Capitol grounds.
For Day 2, Dec. 4, a province-wide job fair is set at SM City Pampanga.
An inter-town Zumba competition and the 2024 Dream Assessment Awarding Ceremony will be held on Day 3, Dec. 6.
On Day 4, Dec. 9, a Christmas chorale competition will be staged at the Laus Group Events Center.
The Mutya ning Kapampangan pageant will be on Day 5, Dec. 10, at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
The Most Outstanding Kapampangan Award honoring the “best and the brightest” of the cabalens for the year will be held at the Kingsborough International Convention Center on Day 6, Dec. 11.
On Dec. 14-15, a NAsFOR (National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders) 4X4 off-road competition with the Pampanga Off-Roaders Inc. will be staged at Megaworld Capital Town. Punto News Team/Photos: Pampanga PIO
