MARIVELES, Bataan — About 40 workers staged a short Labor Day rally here Tuesday, asking for pay increase and end to contractualization.
Carrying streamers and placards, they started marching from the Mariveles poblacion and stopped in front of the municipal hall where they packed up and took a waiting passenger jeepney bound for the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
“Trabahong Regular, Kontrakwalisasyon Wakasan,” read a streamer. “Stop PUV Phaseout,” said a placard.
“Taasan sahod at wakasan ang kontraktwalisasyon para maging regular ang mga manggagawa sa Bataan,” said Delfin Antaldo, president of Freeport Workers’ League in Mariveles.
He said that the participants in the rally came from various companies at the Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles.
Some police officers watched until the rallyists left.
