CABANATUAN CITY – Four village chairmen were collared in separate anti-illegal drugs operations conducted by operatives of the Nueva Ecija police’s intelligence branch and local police stations recently.
Senior Supt. Antonio Yarra, director of the Nueva Ecija police provincial offi ce (NEPPO) identifi ed the suspects as Reynaldo Santos of Barangay Gomez and Abundo Inovero of Barangay Casile, both in Llanera town; Jaime Dumandan of Barangay Bintegan and Joel Alonzo of Barangay Bantug, both in Cuyapo town.
Santos yielded four sachets of suspected shabu and a 12-gauge shotgun, bullets and other paraphernalia, said Yarra.
Operatives also recovered four sachets of shabu and a .22 rifle from Inovero’s residence, police said.
Yarra said the residences of Santos and Inovero were successively searched Friday on the strength of warrants separately issued by the Gapan City Regional Trial Court.
He said the duo were included in the province’s high-value targets after police monitored their alleged continued use of illegal drugs despite surrender.
On Sunday, police recovered a total of seven sachets of suspected shabu from the houses of Dumandan and Alonzo.
Another Barangay head, Benedicto Monses of Bulala, Cuyapo, was not around when police swooped down on his residence but authorities reported the recovery of three sachets of alleged shabu.
All the officials are now facing charges for violations of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs law.
