CABANATUAN CITY – Four alleged communist rebels, yielding firearms, surrendered to government agents in Barangay Pinili, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija at about 5 p.m. Monday, police said.

Police Col. Leon Victor Rosete, Nueva Ecija police chief, identified the surrenderees as Villamor Felix, 70, of Barangay Pinili, organizer-lecturer of the Alyansang Magbubukid Gitnang Luzon and alleged member of the New People’s Army; Reynaldo Sobrepeña, 56, of Barangay Manicla, member of the Hukbo ng Bayan and vice president of Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Magsasaka; Kaome Gabres, 75, of Barangay Manicla, assistant secretary of Samahang Magsasaka; and Armando Cajucom, 57, also of Manicla, CPP-NPA supporter.

The surrender, police said, was facilitated by the command’s intelligence branch and the 2nd provincial mobile field force (PMFF) led by Police Lt. Col. Norman Cacho.

Aside from being organizer, Ladores reportedly was secretary of the Demetrio Muñoz Transit Union, former sub-leader of Metro Manila Transit Corp. under Kilusang Mayo Uno operating in the Metro Manila area. He was also a political organizer of Kilusang Larang Gerilya-Caraballo and had undergone various training/seminar such as student youth practitioner (SYP), police said.

Sobrepeña was also a member of KLG-Caraballo operating in the area of Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, and Kalinga-Apayao, police added.

Sobrepeña reportedly brought with him an improvised rifle while Cajucom yielded a shot gun with ammunition.

The four were placed under the custody of the 2nd PMFF for proper documentation, Rosete said.
