BALANGA CITY- Four Bataan residents who arrived from various countries on Thursday subjected themselves to examinations for Influenza A (H1N1) virus at the government-owned Bataan General Hospital here.

Dr. Glory Baltazar, acting BGH chief, clarified that there is still no case of H1N1 virus in Bataan but admitted that there are four Bataenos undergoing throat swab examination and being observed.

“Meron tayong inoobserbahan na kababayan natin na galing sa ibang bansa na tulad ng ginagawa rin sa ibang probinsiya,” she said.

She explained that people are already aware of the virus because of massive information campaign of the Department of Health and have voluntarily subjected themselves to examination and observation after experiencing symptoms of influenza.

Baltazar said the four were placed under home quarantine while waiting for the results of laboratory examination expected in three days.  She advised those who had come in contact with the four to stay in their houses while the throat swab test is not yet known.

“There is no need for alarm but Bataenos should be careful and practice the proper washing of hands and other health precautionary measures,” she said. She cautioned that people should meanwhile refrain from handshaking and “beso-beso” to limit the transmission of the virus.

Baltazar directed that visiting hours for patients be shortened and the number of watchers limited to two at the most for each patient confined at the government hospital.
