BALANGA CITY — Police arrested four suspects and confiscated 13 cut logs in a joint anti-illegal logging raid in Barangay Alangan in Limay, Bataan Wednesday, July 19.

Personnel of the Limay municipal police station headed by police chief Major Jennifer Cruz together with elements of the Bataan 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and barangay officials of Alangan conducted the operation.

In a report to Bataan police director Col. Palmer Tria, Cruz said that aside from the cut logs, confiscated were two carabaos and a closed van which were used in the hauling of the logs.

The suspects, she said, face charges for violation of PD 705, also known as the Forestry Reform Code.

Tria lauded the combined police team and barangay officials for their hard work and determination in combating illegal logging that he said devastates the province’s natural resources and beauty.

This initiative must serve as an inspiration to others and demonstrate the importance of collective responsibility in preserving and protecting our environment,” the police provincial director said.
