4 illegal fishers nabbed in Bataan

MARIVELES, Bataan — The Bataan Police Maritime Group on Tuesday reported the arrest of four fishermen allegedly caught in the act of fishing with the use of dynamites five kilometers from the shoreline of Orion, Bataan Monday.

Major Leoncio Alcantara, Bataan Maritime Station chief in Mariveles, identified the  suspects as Glendo, 51 and son Giemel, 26,  and relatives Gilbert, 42 and  Jonathan, 30;  all surnamed Malaras from Rosario, Cavite.

Alcantara said that confiscated from the suspects were more than 20 kilos of tamban fish, five bottles of improvised dynamite, compressor and hose, and their fishing banca impounded.

The municipal fish examiner confirmed that the fish were caught with the use of dynamites.

Alcantara said the four suspects face charges for violation of Section 92 of RA 10654 or the use of explosives in illegal fishing.
