BALANGA CITY – A third legislative district for Bataan approved in the Senate last week would redound to more benefits and greater services for the people, said Rep. Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia 3rd on Saturday.
Garcia said that each district has an automatic fund allocation from the national government and with the turning of Bataan from two to three districts will be beneficial to the province and its people.
He said that having a third engineering district of the Department of Public Works and Highways will translate to additional job opportunities.
The Senate last Monday approved on third reading HB 8664 or the Reapportionment of the Province of Bataan into three legislative districts authored by Garcia. It got a vote of 22 – 0 after a serious discussion by the Senate committee on local government chaired by Senator Francis Tolentino.
Bataan has two districts with Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay and Morong under the first district and Balanga City, Pilar, Orion, Limay, Mariveles and Bagac in the second district.
Geraldine Roman represents the first district.
Under the new law when signed by the President, the first district will be composed of Hermosa, Orani, Samal and Abucay; second district – Balanga City, Pilar, Orion and Limay; and third district – Dinalupihan, Mariveles, Bagac and Morong.
