BAGAC, Bataan – Thirty-three persons, including children, who were to spend the Holy Week in beach resorts in Bataan, were hurt in separate accidents in two towns in the province.

Reports showed that 22 persons, eight children included, from the City of San Fernando, were injured on Black Saturday while on their way to hold a family reunion in a beach here.

The passenger jeepney they were riding in fell on a creek while traversing downhill on a steep and curved road in Barangay Banawang, Bagac, a few meters from the beach resort they were bound to in Sitio Look.

Ana Katrisa Tutol, staff personnel of the Bagac Community and Medicare Hospital, said they treated the 22 picnic-goers for head injuries and bruises and had them transferred immediately to the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City.

Banawang barangay chairman Carlito Bautista said they immediately rushed to the scene of the accident and brought the passengers to the Bagac hospital.

“Grabe mga bata, may talop sa ulo, sa pisngi. Kaawa-awa sila,” the village head said. Bautista said he had the road leading to four beach resorts in Sitio Look temporarily closed because of the accident.

“Mag-uusap muna kami sa munisipyo ng mga may-ari ng beach resorts sa Lunes dahil nalimutan nila ang naging usapan namin na dapat may sasalubong sa mga bisita nila sa bukana. Kawawa ang mga bisita na malayo pa naman ang pinanggalingan na hindi kabisado ang kalsada,” the barangay chairman said.

In Abucay town, 11 persons coming from Valenzuela City in Metro Manila to have a picnic in a beach resort in Morong, Bataan were also hurt on Maundy Thursday when their passenger jeepney fell on its side when the driver tried to evade hitting a motorcycle it was following along the Roman Superhighway.
