OLONGAPO CITY — Operatives of Police Station 4 of the city police rounded three cockfight afficionados engaged in a “tupada” or small-time cockfighting amid the community quarantine.
PS4 commander Captain Walter Primero identified the suspects as Aaron Mesiano y Eclarino, 32, of Block 19, Balic-Balic, Sta Rita; Angelo Giray y Nabacilla, 31, and Nolito Sario y Villacio, 44, both residents of Muslim Site, Purok 3, Barangay New Cabalan, all inOlongapo City.
Report said that on June 13, at about 11:45 a.m., a concerned citizen called the police informing them that illegal cockfighting was in progress at Muslim Site.
Responding policemen caught the suspects in the act of holding the tupada.
Confiscated from the suspects were four fightingcocks, two pieces of “tari” or spurs, assorted gambling paraphernalia, and bet money amounting to P1,000 in different denominations.
The suspects are now facing charges for violation of PD 1602 (Illegal gambling) and GCQ protocol.
