CABANATUAN CITY – Three school-aged children infected with mpox (monkeypox) in this city have all “fully recovered.”
“Tuyong-tuyo na po ‘yung kanilang mga sugat, senyales na talagang magaling na po,” said Edwin Manabat, head of the city epidemiology and surveillance unit, regarding the condition of the two boys and a girl, all aged 15, who were earlier confirmed to have been infected.
The first case was discovered in March, the second in April, and the third in May, all of this year, Manabat said. Their respective family members have been placed under strict observation but have tested negative, he added.
None of the patients who came from different villages and without connection with each other had travel history, Manabat noted.
Based on tests conducted by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, the mpox that infected the three was the less deadly Grade 2, he said.
Manabat maintained the cases were not enough to cause panic to the public. It is enough, he said, to practice proper hygiene.
