3 killed in anti-drug ops

    SUBIC, Zambales – The No. 1 in the regional list of most wanted drug personalities and two of his cohorts were killed after a four-hour firefight with police in Sitio Bukid Bundok Bato, Barangay Calapacuan of this town early Saturday.

    Chief Inspector Leonardo Madrid, head of Subic PNP, in his report to Zambales Police Provincial Office (ZPPO) director Senior Supt. Eli Defra, identified the top drug personality as Regie Calledo, alias Matar, who was also wanted for a homicide case in Subic, where he was also listed No. 1 Most Wanted Person.

    Calledo had been placed under surveillance by the Subic police after he was spotted going in and out of Barangay Calapacuan.

    Report said at about 6 a.m., as the police were about to serve Calledo a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Raymond Viray of RTC, Branch 75 of Olongapo City for homicide, he resisted and opened fire at the policemen prompting them to fire back, thereby killing Calledo and two cohorts identified only as “Wilwil” and “Boyet.”

    Recovered from the suspects were an M-16 rifle, a .9MM automatic machine pistol, several magazines of cal 5.56 and cal. 9MM, and various ammunitions. The police team also found quantities of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) at the crime scene.
