BALANGA CITY — Three car occupants died while two others were wounded when an oil tanker and a closed delivery van hit their vehicle while about to turn left in an intersection at the busy Roman Superhighway in Orion, Bataan Tuesday afternoon.

Attending physicians at the Bataan General Hospital (BGH) here declared dead on arrival car driver Jerome Pangilinan, 41, call center agent; Emerson Pangilinan, 32, and Andy Luna, 30; all of Barangay San Vicente in Orion.

Injured were Jon Kennedy de Belen and Lord Jerick Gonzales, both also from Orion and rushed to BGH.

“Papasok ang kotse sa Sto. Domingo nang madumog sa puwit ng oil tanker at mabangga ng parating na van sa tagiliran,” said Miguela Sidenyo, a resident nearby. The woman said rescuers from the Metro Bataan Development Authority used “bareta” to remove the dead and the injured who were pinned inside the car.

Reports showed that the car from Balanga City was about to turn left at the Sto. Domingo intersection when the oil tanker tailing it bumped its rear portion. The incoming closed delivery van from the Mariveles direction then hit the car’s right side portion.

The front bumpers of both the two big vehicles were destroyed while the rear and right side portions of the car were a total wreck.

Drivers Alexander Datu of the oil tanker and Alfredo Tabayoyong of the closed van were detained at the Orion municipal police station. Police said they were still conducting investigation.
