CABANATUAN CITY – Three persons were arrested here on Monday night for carrying guns without licenses.

Supt. Edgar Alan Okubo, chief of Nueva Ecija police’s provincial public safety company, identified the suspects Rodel Gamit, 34; Beejay dela Rosario, 21; and Raffy del Rosario, 33, all of Barangay Bagong Sicat this city.

Okubo said the three were nabbed in possession of a caliber 9mm pistol, two caliber 45 pistols and 14 rounds of live ammunitions at about 9:50 p.m. in Barangay Lourdes here.

Police said the two Del Rosarios were cruising along the road aboard a Yamaha motorcycle with license plate 2424-YP when flagged down by the mobile checkpoint. However, the two Del Rosarios refused to stop and passed by the checkpoint prompting the lawmen to chase them.

Another group of authorities nearby helped in chasing the suspects which led to the latter’s capture.

Gamit and Raffy both failed to present gun licenses and their permits to carry. Okubo said the suspects were drunk when arrested.

Suspects will be charged of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition or violation of Republic Act 8295.

They will also be facing “separate charges of violating Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code or disobedience upon
person in authority and his agent.”

The crackdown against illegal guns was made on orders of Region 3 police director, Chief Superintendent Edgar Ladao and Nueva Ecija police director, Senior Superintendent Robert Alligayu.
