26 held for ECQ violations, 10 minors turned over to DSWD

ZARAGOZA, Nueva Ecija — Two persons were arrested for allegedly violating protocols under the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine and the Revised Penal Code in separate villages here at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police reported Thursday.

Major Jaime Ferrer, municipal police chief, identified the suspects as Jomar Jose, 22, construction worker of Barangay Sto. Rosario; and Ariel Reyes, 35, motorcycle mechanic, of Barangay San Isidro, both in this town.

Ferrer said both suspects were arrested by responding policemen upon complaint by neighbors for was making a scene outside their residence “while under the influence of liquor” amid the liquor ban here due to ECQ.

“Said suspects also ignored and disobeyed the police to stay at home and acted disorderly,” Ferrer said.

Detained at the police’s custodial facility, the suspects are now facing charges for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code or Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority.

These incidents brought to 36 the number of people accosted for variety of offenses, including illegal gambling, curfew and liquor ban which are included in protocols to observe social distancing under ECQ to avoid and contain the transmission of the deadly Civid-19.

At least ten of them, however, were referred to the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development for being minors.

Like the latest two, all the 24 arrested suspects were properly charged and subjected to inquest proceedings, said Ferrer.

The police here conduct daily information campaign under “Oplan Bandilyo” where police personnel use public address system to remind residents of the rules being imposed under ECQ.
