2,000 families get Capitol, DSWD relief amid continuous rains

SASMUAN, Pampanga – Amid the continuous downpour in the wake of tropical depression Crising and the southwest monsoon, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, in coordination with the Provincial Government of Pampanga, delivered immediate relief to affected families in this municipality on July 21. 

A total of 2,129 families received family food packs during the distribution led by DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Pampanga Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and acting Vice Governor Fritzie David Dizon.

Gatchalian emphasized that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had given explicit instructions to deliver assistance directly to affected residents.

“We are here because the President asked me to deliver immediate and personal support to communities affected by calamities. In addition to food assistance, DSWD is also ready to provide financial aid for those in need of further recovery,” he said.

The relief operations were supported by DSWD Region III director Venus Rebuldela, Sasmuan Mayor Catalina Cabrera, 2nd District board member Atty. Claire Lim, provincial social welfare and development officer Fe Manarang, provincial disaster risk reduction and management office chief Janica Yambao, provincial government environment and natural resources office chief Arthur Punsalan, and personnel from the general services office.
