TARLAC CITY (PIA) — A total of 20 members of Bobon Caarosipan Multipurpose Cooperative from Camiling, Tarlac completed the skills training on Bamboo Product-making.

Through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the participants were capacitated in creating decorative products using bamboo as raw material.

Trade Industry Development Specialist Rhina Villapaña explained that this is part of the agency’s thrust to encourage, develop and support entrepreneurs that contribute to job generation and local economic growth.

“The activity aims to introduce new skills to the participants that could generate additional income with minimal investment and readily available resources,” she said.

During the skills training, resource speaker Carlo Dizon demonstrated the proper cutting of bamboo poles, treatment, product assembly, and finishing techniques.

Meanwhile, cooperative member Serafin Tomas thanked DTI for the opportunity to learn and discover products made of bamboo.

“We are delighted by this training because it taught us skills to create products using bamboo. This will help us have other sources of income and further develop our cooperative,” he stressed.

Prior to this, the agency conducted a skills training on Engineered Bamboo Product-making to the members of Macaguing Primary Multipurpose Cooperative in Sta. Ignacia town.

DTI provides seminars to various sectors, including farmers, to encourage more Tarlaqueños to start their business journey, to generate employment, and to boost the local economy of the province. (CLJD/TJBM, PIA Region 3- Tarlac)
