CIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ Two alleged New People’s Army guerillas past senior citizen age surrendered on Wednesday to the police provincial task force on ending local communist armed conflict.

Nueva Ecija police director Col. Marvin Joe Saroidentified the suspects by aliases “Ka Joe,” 63, married from Barangay Culasi, Antique and “Ka Nida,” 62, of Bagong Sicat this city.

Saro said the duo were listed as members of the Northern Front Committee Party Squad 3.

Police sent to media pixelated images of the suspects. They were placed under the custody of the city police station for safe keeping and documentation, police said.

“Ka Joe reportedly surrendered with a .45 pistol with six unspent ammunition.

Saro said the two will be endorsed to avail themselves of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, the government’s assistance program for returnees.

He said that continuous surrender of NPA members to the police and the military “is a clear manifestation of the effectiveness of the whole-of-the-nation approach to end insurgency under Executive Order 70 that institutionalizes the NTF-ELCAC.”
