Samal Mayor Alex Acuzar

SAMAL, Bataan — The municipal government here on Wednesday announced the
temporary closure of two of six poultry farms in the town due to fly infestation.
Mayor Alex Acuzar issued the cease-and-desist order and temporary closure of
the farm operation for six months and the temporary suspension of its business
permit from Aug. 10, 2022 to Jan. 10, 2023 pursuant to provincial and municipal
ordinances.

The mayor said that upon hearing of the complaints of residents, they conducted
an investigation and found out that the poultry farms could not control the influx
of flies.

Acuzar said there are six poultry establishments in Samal but the two were the
subject of many complaints while the rest have none and so they decided to close
the two. Mostly affected, he said, are villagers from barangays Ibaba and Sapa.
nagrereklamo, kailangang umaksiyon ang munisipyo,” the mayor noted.

Acuzar said he does not want to close any establishment but the poultry farms
should follow municipal and provincial ordinances.

mayor warned.

He asked residents, however, to be responsible for the cleanliness of their
surroundings.
ang kapaligiran,” Acuzar said.

Residents welcomed the move of their mayor who is on his first term.
Virginia Mosquera said.

The old woman said she could not cook well.

Mosquera said that it was okay for them for the poultry farms to be closed,
claiming that many of them got sick because of the flies.

Edilberto Saldivar said he could not understand where the flies came from.
Before, he said there were none or only in small number unlike now that there
are so many pestering them.

Rochelle de Guzman admitted that the poultry farms are of help to the
community.

She said that every day she cleaned their house and surroundings. “Nagwawalis
De Guzman said that Wednesday was the third day of the fly infestation. “Noong
