BALANGA CITY — Two foreign nationals suspected of involvement in robbery through basag- kotse incidents in Bataan were arrested here and in Hermosa town Friday and Saturday.
Bataan police director Colonel Palmer Tria said the first suspect during tactical interrogation identified himself to be a Nigerian national residing in a nearby province.
Tria said the suspects were identified through a CCTV footage given by the Balanga City Peace and Order Office.
Balanga City police chief Lt. Col. Jonathan Cabrera reported to Tria that a raid led by Maj. Albert Decin resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects Friday. The other suspect, also a Nigerian, managed to escape and fled towards the grassy portion of the highway.
Hot pursuit operation was conducted by personnel of the 1st Police Mobile Force Company, Balanga City Peace and Order Office, Metro Bataan Development Authority and members of the barangay to track and apprehend the suspect.
The suspect, 27, was collared Saturday in a checkpoint in Barangay Palihan in Hermosa with shabu and illegal firearm in his possession confiscated.
According to a report submitted to Tria, operatives of the 1st Bataan Mobile Force Company led by Lt. Ronnie Luna were able to intercept the Nigerian national on board a bus after he was flash- alarmed for alleged involvement in the robbery that transpired in Balanga City on Friday.
During the protective search, police confiscated from the foreign national a black sling bag containing one Springfield .38 revolver without serial number and a black small pouch containing one medium size heat-sealed plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less five grams with a standard drug price of P35,000.
Tria said suspect was placed under the custody of the Hermosa municipal police station while appropriate charges are being readied against him and the first apprehended suspect.
